These Terms govern your use of BriefAudit, a citation verification service operated by Evidite, Inc. Creating an account or uploading a document means you accept them.
Acceptance
By creating an account or using BriefAudit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
BriefAudit is a rule-based legal citation verification tool. It checks case citations in a brief against indexed federal and state court records and reports, for each citation, whether a canonical record confirms it. Verdicts are produced by fixed logic with no AI or machine learning; results depend on the coverage of the underlying databases at the time of the query.
No language model produces or influences a verdict. BriefAudit does not provide legal advice, and its output is not a substitute for professional judgement.
Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account, and you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. One Evidite account works across BriefAudit, CitateScreen and SciPubAudit.
Credits and payment
New accounts receive 5 complimentary credits. One credit is consumed when a document verification starts. Additional credits may be purchased at the prices shown in the app. Credits are non-refundable except as required by law, and they do not expire.
Retrying the same document after a network failure replays the original charge rather than making a new one. If a verification is charged but fails to produce a report, write to us and we will credit the account back.
Acceptable use
You may not use BriefAudit to process confidential documents in violation of applicable professional-conduct rules, or for any unlawful purpose. Automated or bulk submission requires a separate written agreement.
Intellectual property
BriefAudit and the underlying source-component index are the proprietary property of Evidite, Inc. You may not reverse engineer, copy, scrape or redistribute any part of the service. Reports you generate are yours to use, keep and share.
You retain all rights in documents you submit and grant Evidite only the temporary, limited license needed to process the document and return your results. Citation-level research use occurs only when you separately opt in through the data settings.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". Evidite makes no warranty that verification results are complete or error-free. A verified verdict means the canonical index confirmed the citation; it is not a guarantee. Always confirm citations against the original source before filing.
Limitation of liability
Evidite's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of BriefAudit is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months preceding the claim. Evidite is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including any sanction, adverse ruling or professional consequence arising from a filed document.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by writing to us.
Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app, and continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
